- Low debt. Owes less than half of what the business is worth on its books. Banks and insurers are left out.
- Growing steadily. Sales grew at least 5% a year for five years, with spare cash every year.
- Best businesses only. Only the companies that score 85 or more out of 100 on quality.
Pays you cash each year. 4% means $4 a year for every $100 of shares.
